The Timid Hare

A hare lived in the forest. He was very timid.

One day the hare came to the crane. He knew that the crane could make different things.

"Hello, Crane," said the hare.

"Hello, Hare."

"Can you make the teeth of a lion for me?"

"Why do you want the teeth of a lion?" asked the crane.

"I want to look like a lion. When the fox sees me he will be scared. Now I run from him, and then the fox will run from me," said the hare.

The crane smiled.

"All right," he said, and made the lion's teeth for the hare. The teeth were very, very big.

"Here you are," said the crane to the hare. "Put them in your mouth."

"Very good," said the hare. He liked the teeth. "Now the fox will be scared. Thank you! Goodbye!" And the hare ran to look for the fox.

The hare jumped here and there, but he could not see the fox. Then he stopped to rest. Suddenly he saw the fox behind the bushes. The fox was near him! The hare was scared. He ran away.

He ran to the crane and said, "I don't like these teeth. They are not good. Can you make me bigger teeth?"

"Yes, I can," said the crane. "But you don't need the teeth of a lion. You need a lion's heart."
