A. Знакомство

Dear Sasha,

Thank you for the letter.

After school I like playing football, but I can't play it every day. It is warm in London in autumn, but it often rains. My favourite season is summer. It is hot and it doesn't often rain. I play games every day in summer.

Is it warm or cold in St. Petersburg in autumn? Does it often rain? What's your favourite season? Why?

Best wishes,
                  Steve

Dear Sasha,

Thank you for the letter. I was glad to get it.

Last week was my brother's birthday. Mum and Dad gave him a bike as a present. I gave him a present, too. On Sunday we had a party. My brother Dan invited all his friends. There were a lot of people at the party. We sang, danced and played games. The party was great!

When was your birthday? Did you have a party? What presents did you get?

Best wishes,

Dear Father Christmas,

How are you? Thank you for the presents you gave me last year.

This year I have been a good girl. I always helped my mum about the house. I got good marks at school.

I would like to get a camera as a Christmas present. I want to learn to take photos. I'd also like a big beautiful doll.

Love,

Dear Sasha,

Thank you for the letter. I was glad to get it.

You asked me about the clothes I usually wear. All children in our school wear uniforms. At school I always wear a blue jumper, grey trousers, a white shirt and black shoes. At home I like wearing a T-shirt and jeans. When it's cold I put on a jacket or a warm sweater.

I don't like shopping very much, but Mother goes shopping every week and she often buys me new clothes. I sometimes help her to choose presents for our family. Yesterday we bought a scarf for Father.

What clothes do you wear? Do you have a school uniform? Do you like shopping? What do you usually buy?

Best wishes,
                  Steve

Dear Sasha,

Thank you for your letter. I am glad that you had a good time during the winter holidays.

Last summer I had a wonderful time, because I spent a month in Australia! I went there with my mum and dad. First we visited my uncle who lives in Canberra, the capital of Australia. Then we spent a week in the mountains. The weather was cold there and there was a lot of snow. We went skiing every day. After that we went to the ocean. We saw different fish and a lot of other sea animals. I liked swimming in the ocean very much.

How long are your summer holidays? What do you usually do during the holidays? Where did you go last summer? What did you do there?

Best wishes,
                  Steve

Dear Sasha,

Thank you for your letter. I was glad to hear from you again.

You asked me about the people in our family. My dad is a businessman. He spends a lot of time at work. He is always very busy. My mum is a doctor. She is very kind. I've got an elder brother and a younger sister. My brother Dan is twelve years old. He is clever and honest. I wrote to you about his birthday party. My sister Jess is three. She was born on the 24th of August 2008. She is very lively. She always runs, jumps, and plays noisy games.

Could you write about your family, please? How old are they? What do they do? What are they like?

Best wishes,
                  Steve
